Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi, where our staff will meet you in the VIP lounge and whisk you through customs & immigration to your waiting limousine, for your transfer to the beautiful Sofitel Metropole Legend Hotel. Then it's time for lunch at Bobby Chinn restaurant, run by the well-known Discovery Travel & Living chef.After lunch, enjoy a half-day city tour by rickshaw including all the major sights of this charming city, before taking in a water puppet show, including a backstage visit and a chance to meet the puppeteers & find out more about this traditional art form. Day 2: An early start today as you join the locals for a morning Tai Chi session in the park with a local Tai Chi master. Then you depart Hanoi for the ancient charms of Duong Lam village on the Red River Delta, with its many old houses, narrow alleyways and beautifully preserved entrance gate. You will also have lunch with Mr Huyen, a well known journalist and an expert on Vietnamese history and culture, at his traditional house. After lunch, head to 15th century Mia pagoda, with its amazing collection of over 250 statues of all sizes, as well as two further temples dedicated to national heroes Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung.On the way back to Hanoi stop at Tay Phuong Pagoda. One of the first pagodas built in Vietnam, it is architecturally stunning and has magnificent dragons and demons carved into the wooden roof. 

Day 3 & 4: Enjoy a luxurious 2-night cruise on Halong Bay on a private junk. Your junk's staff will cater to your every whim as you relax on board, enjoy meals & drinks on deck, and visit the incredible rock formations of Halong Bay. You will also visit floating villages and can enjoy kayaking and swimming in the bay.

Day 5: Wave goodbye to your crew as you return to dry land and head back to Hanoi, stopping en route at the traditional silk & art villages of Dong Ho and Ha Dong.In the evening, dine at La Verticale restaurant, owned by well-known French chef Didier Corlou.

Day 6: In the morning, head to Noi Bai airport for the short flight to Hue, where you will check into the 5* colonial-style La Residence hotel to relax and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a cyclo tour around Vietnam's former imperial capital to visit the ancient Citadel and fascinating Dong Ba wet market.In the evening, don your colourful royal gown for a private dinner cruise on the Perfume River, where you will enjoy sumptuous imperial delicacies to the sound of traditional musicians.

Day 7: Back on the river this morning as you take a dragon boat cruise to visit some of Hue's famous monuments, including Thien Mu pagoda and the Tu Due royal tombs. Lunch will be taken with the monks at a local Buddhist temple, where you can also study meditation if you wish.In the afternoon, visit the impressive tomb of King Khai Dinh, before enjoying your private evening meal at a traditional Hue rural house.

Day 8: This morning you depart Hue and head to Hoi An by private car, stopping en route in Danang to visit the fascinating Cham Museum. After checking in at the exclusive Nam Hai resort, have lunch by the beach and then rejoin your car for a private tour of the beautiful 16th century town of Hoi An, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Taking a bicycle of cyclo, visit some of the towns famous buildings such as the magnificent Japanese covered bridge and Fukien assembly hall, before enjoying a sundowner at Mango Mango. In the evening, enjoy fine Vietnamese cuisine at Brother's Cafe.

Day 9: Its cooking time - kick off your day with a visit to Hoi Ans bustling wet market, and then learn to cook local specialities with a Vietnamese chef at your private cooking class, before eating your handiwork for lunch! Then you can work off all that food with an afternoon cycle ride to Tra Que vegetable village to experience life in Hoi Ans outlying rural areas.In the evening, enjoy superb fusion cuisine cooked up by the charismatic Mr Due at his Mango Room restaurant.

Day 10: Enjoy a free day on the beach at Hoi An, or take an optional sailing trip to the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Cham Island.

Day 11: A morning flight to Saigon, Vietnam's economic hub, followed by check in at the 5* Park Hyatt Hotel and lunch at the charming Temple Club restaurant.In the afternoon, visit the most interesting spots of this vibrant city, including Notre Dame cathedral, the Reunification Palace, and Chinatown, before having a private evening meal with famous war journalist Hoang Van Cuong, who worked for UPI during the war and who will fascinate you with his reminiscences.

Day 12: Time to try out your cooking skills again! After a morning market tour to shop for ingredients, learn to prepare southern dishes at Hoa Tuc restaurant's al fresco cooking school, where you eat what you cook for lunch.Then it's time to head out of the city to explore the amazing wartime tunnel complex at Cu Chi, and to drop in on the nearby Wildlife at Risk shelter, which looks after the regions rare and mistreated animals.

Day 13: Today you head south to experience the rural charm and laid back lifestyle of the Mekong Delta, where you will visit local workshops, peaceful villages and rice paddies, as well as cruising along the waterways by private boat and sampan, and enjoying a delicious 5-course lunch of local specialities. After arriving back in Saigon, experience classic French fine dining at Le Bordeaux restaurant.

Day 14: Transfer to the airport for your onward flight, or extend your stay with a luxury beach break at one of southern Vietnam's exclusive beach resorts, such as Princess d'Annam in Ke Ga, Six Senses Con Dao, or La Veranda on Phu Quoc Island.
