Tourist Attractions

Tay Ninh Cao Dai Temple

The Cao Dai Temple is a famous complex that was built between 1936 and 1955, in the middle of a garden, 4km east of Tay Ninh Town. The most interesting building in this complex is the Great Temple, which was built according to the architectural requirements of the Cao Dai Sect. The construction is a harmonious fusion of Asian and European styles, with domes and embellishments exemplifying the spirit of the religion. In the complex, visitors can also admire other buildings, such as the Chanh Mon Gate, the four towers, and the Mother of Buddha Temple. Also, there are the many unusual flowers in the Garden of Ba Hue. The largest annual festival is the Dieu Tri Kim Mau Festival (on the 15thday of the 8th lunar month). It attracts thousands of people from every corner of the country. The Long Hoa Market, the biggest market in Tay Ninh, is just a few kilometres from the temple.

Ba Den Mountain

Ba Den Mountain is a famous complex of cultural and historical sites and beauty spots in Tay Ninh, 11km northeast of Tay Ninh Town. Spreading over an area of 24km2, the complex includes three mountains: Heo, Phung and Ba Den, of which the 986m-high Ba Den is the highest peak in the South. Of the pagodas, shrines and temples in the complex the most noteworthy are the Upper, Middle and Lower pagodas. In addition, one should not forget Hang Pagoda and various grottoes of Kim Quang, Kim Son, Thanh Long, Dai Dong and Thien Thai. There are three ways to reach Ba Temple. If you go on foot, it takes you over one hour to arrive at the destination. Cable cars take you 20 minutes to cover a distance of 1,200m. The sliding system includes two lines going upward and downward, 1,190m and 1,700m in length respectively. It is impressive to take the downward line as it will take you through lots of hair-raising bends and corners. Ba Den Mountain is also the location of three preservation parks that serve as outdoor museums, which display relics and photographs depicting the life and activities of the Vietnamese Liberation Forces during the American War. Ba Den Mountain is a holy place of the local people and an interesting cultural and eco-tourism site for domestic and foreign tourists.

Dau Tieng Reservoir

Dau Tieng Reservoir is located 25km from Tay Ninh, 70km north of Ho Chi Minh City, on the way to the Cao Dai Temple and Ba Den Mountain. The lake covers 27,000ha and has a water reserve of 1.5 billion m3 used for irrigation in Tay Ninh Province, as well as for other neighbouring provinces.
